Questions, privacy, credits
The straight answers, then the boring but important parts: what the app reads, what it never does, and who made the data and artwork it stands on. The feedback board and reviews are at the bottom; both work without an account.
Frequently asked
What is EFT Helper?
A free, unofficial Windows companion app for Escape from Tarkov. Quick search over the game, display presets and an overlay, prices, ammo, bosses, maps, quests and hideout on the second screen, and a raid history with a recorder and clip editor built from the game's own log files.
Is it allowed? Does it read the game?
It reads the plain-text log files the game writes to disk, read-only, the same files you can open in Notepad. It never reads game memory, never injects or hooks, never shows positions over the game, and never sends anything to a server. Battlestate's rules target software that gives you in-raid information you would not otherwise have; a log tailer and a second-screen wiki do not.
Is it free?
Yes, with no paid tier and no accounts. There is a Ko-fi if it earns one.
Is it official or affiliated with Battlestate Games?
No. It is a fan-made tool. Escape from Tarkov® is a trademark of Battlestate Games Limited.
Where do prices and data come from?
Game data from tarkov.dev, flea prices from Tarkov Market, map artwork from tarkov-dev-svg-maps. See credits below.
Does the recorder need OBS?
No. FFmpeg is bundled and drives your NVIDIA encoder. AMD and Intel encoders are on the roadmap.
Will it slow the game down?
The UI parks itself while Tarkov has focus. Recording costs what any NVENC capture costs, a few percent of GPU.
Can I back up or move my setup?
Yes. The App page exports presets, hotkeys, favourites and quest progress to one file and imports it on another PC. The raid history database and recordings live in your app data and Videos folders and can be copied like any files.
Something is wrong. Where do I report it?
The bug board, or the Feedback page inside the app, which is the same board.
What the app never does
- No telemetry, analytics or tracking of any kind inside the app
- No account, no login, no e-mail
- No server of its own; nothing you do is sent anywhere
- No game memory reading, hooks or injection
- No background services; close it and it is gone
- Recordings, clips and your raid history stay on your PC
